The Journey Begins
Our journey started early in the morning with a visit to the charming town of Kriva Palanka. Before heading to the waterfalls, we made sure to stop by a local bakery to grab some fresh pastries—perfect for enjoying later with a view. Kriva Palanka is a delightful place to explore, offering a glimpse into local Macedonian culture and cuisine.
From Kriva Palanka, we drove to the village of Stanci, where we parked our car next to the old school. This is the starting point for the 3-kilometer hike to the waterfalls, a path that meanders alongside the Kozja River. The trail is relatively easy, making it accessible for most visitors, but be sure to wear long pants as there are some sections with dense vegetation.

The hike to Stanečki Vodopadi is a scenic 30-minute walk through beautiful nature. As you follow the river, the sound of rushing water becomes your guide, leading you to the first and largest waterfall. Stanečki Vodopadi stands at an impressive 11 meters high, making it the tallest waterfall in the Osogovo Mountains.
This main waterfall flows year-round, thanks to the constant stream of water from the Kozja River. It’s an ideal place to take a break, enjoy your packed food, and soak in the stunning views.
For the more adventurous, there are additional smaller waterfalls further up the mountain. These falls are less accessible, requiring a bit more effort to reach, but they offer an exciting challenge for hiking enthusiasts. Additionally, there’s a nearby lake that can be visited via another route, providing yet another beautiful spot to explore.
